Liberty Correctional Institution holds adult men in the Florida Department of Corrections system. A person can leave the grounds through several paths. FDC may transfer him to another institution, move him to a community-release setting, release him at sentence expiration, place him on conditional release or parole where the law allows, or deliver him to an authority named in a detainer. A physical move is not always a discharge.
The public FDC record supplies the key distinction. A new current facility with an open incarceration period points to a transfer. An Inmate Release detail with a completed out-custody date documents the end of that state-prison episode. A Supervised Population record can then show whether community supervision continues. Detainer and sentence rows may explain why the destination differs from the expected home address.

Confirm a Liberty C.I. Release
Start at the FDC Corrections Offender Information Network. Its separate databases matter. The current-inmate search is for people held by FDC, while Inmate Release covers former prisoners and entries scheduled for release. Supervised Population covers people managed in the community. Search All is useful when the correct population is not yet clear.
- Choose Inmate Release Information. Search by the six-character DC number when known, or use first and last name with the alias option.
- Open the detail and match birth date, photograph, aliases, sentence county, and case number. Do not rely on name alone.
- Read the release date and incarceration history. A future date is prospective; a past out-custody entry is stronger completed-release evidence.
- Run the Supervised Population search. Match the same DC number and check supervision type, current location, start date, and termination date.
- Open the sentencing court case for the judgment, amended sentence, and any order that explains the release or later change.
FDC says Inmate Release information updates nightly. Data can still change. A future FDC release date does not prove discharge. Confirm a completed out-custody event and the current corrections population.
Liberty C.I. Release Fields
The FDC Inmate Release list displays identity fields and a release date. A detail can add a photograph, aliases, current and prior sentence history, detainers, incarceration periods, and past prison history. Sentence rows may identify the county, case number, offense date, sentence date, abbreviated offense, and term length. These fields let a reader connect the prison discharge to the court that imposed the sentence.

FDC's released population includes people already released and some people scheduled to leave. That is why the release date cannot stand alone. A complete record check compares the detail heading, incarceration out-date, and any current population result. The public search covers state-prison and state-supervision populations, not a person who served only a short Liberty County Jail term.

FDC's official institution page identifies the facility contact. It also lists Liberty South Unit as a satellite. A useful request asks for the release-status record, incarceration history, and most recent releasable inmate identification photograph. FDC processes requests under Florida Chapter 119 and its corrections confidentiality law. Medical, investigative, victim, safety, and other exempt data may be redacted. The institution's posted visitation hours are not central-records hours and should not be used as a promise about records service.
Liberty C.I. Supervised Releases
Release from prison does not always end state authority. Probation is imposed by a court. Parole applies to a limited older eligible population. Conditional release is a statutory post-prison program for qualifying cases, and community control is a more intensive court-ordered form of supervision. FDC field staff supervise these statuses, while the Florida Commission on Offender Review makes parole and certain conditional-release decisions.
Use the FDC Supervised Population search with the same DC number. A detail can identify supervision type, location or office, start date, termination date, and offense information. FDC says most supervised-population data updates weekly, while termination dates and location changes update nightly. If a result has expired dates or an unclear location, confirm it with the listed office before treating supervision as over.

Liberty C.I. Projected Dates
A person still held at Liberty Correctional Institution may have a public `Current Release Date`. Florida law calls the gain-time projection a tentative release date. The public screen warns that the field can change after gain-time award, forfeiture, or review. It may also read `TO BE SET`. None of those values proves that the person has left prison.
Florida's gain-time rules vary by offense date, sentence, eligibility, credit, and discipline. For many offenses in the post-October 1995 tier, gain-time cannot cause release before service of at least 85 percent of the imposed sentence, with qualifying jail credit counted toward that floor. Mandatory terms, detainers, added sentences, court changes, loss of gain-time, and other lawful events may alter the shown date. A life sentence is not converted to an 85-percent term.
For a present projection, use the Current Inmate Population detail. For a completed Liberty C.I. discharge, return to Inmate Release and read the out-custody history. Parole dates use separate PPRD and EPRD terms and must not be substituted for an FDC tentative date.
Court credit adds another layer. Florida law requires the sentencing court to state credit for time spent in county jail before sentence, and the jail certifies certain time before delivery to FDC. A corrected judgment or credit calculation can therefore change the state projection without signaling that the first public value was a promise. Compare the latest court order with the date shown by FDC, then ask Admission and Release when the two do not align.
About Liberty Correctional Institution
FDC's official Liberty Correctional Institution listing identifies an adult male state prison operated by the Florida Department of Corrections. It is not part of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, even though both the county jail and the prison are in Bristol. FDC explains that state institutions hold people convicted of felonies and sentenced to more than one year. People usually enter after leaving a county jail for an FDC reception center, making that county departure a transfer rather than a community release.
The official page names Joseph Floyd as warden. Its listed capacity is presented with satellite units, so it should not be described as a verified main-unit-only count. Liberty South Unit has its own page because its public facts and release route require care. A move between the main institution and South Unit stays within FDC custody unless the statewide history records an actual out-custody event.
The facility record and release record serve different roles. The institution page confirms the prison and its official contact, while the person-level FDC databases document current placement, sentence history, release, and supervision. Calling the warden's office is not a substitute for matching a DC number to the statewide record, but staff may route a question when an exceptional event has not yet appeared in the public data.
